The Sun
Website
The Sun wanted to launch a brand new website after removal of their paywall. The Sun was also moving over to WordPress as its CMS (Content Management System).
The design was very modulated, mainly using rectangular teasers to represent individual pieces of news.
From a development point of view, the front end is built using HTML5, CSS 3 and Vanilla Javascript. The client did not want to use libraries if possible so the site could be quick and to not rely on anything else.
The backend of the project relies on WordPress and the editorial and journalist teams have the ability to add their own stories as well as using a custom built tool which allows them to drag and drop stories on to the homepage and order them as they wish.
The project only took 6 months, which is amazing considering all that was involved and how large this project was.
